May 10th, 2010On Sunday, May 30th NoVo Arts and P-1 Music will release new music from Chicago Groove favorites P-1. The new EP, entitled the The P1 Move, features P-1 mainstays producer/guitar/vocalist Steve Butler and Sax Man/music business man Frankie Hill. In 2005, P-1 had a hit in Chicago and New York with their steppers dance track “P-1 Groove.” This new round of recordings features a rotating crew of P-1 vocalists including DJ Lady Verse from New York, Ami Saraiya from Chicago, Rocket, lead singer for Reggae band Gizzae, The Dirty MF from Liquid Soul and R&B singer Kozii on vocals. The EP and the project will all go under the moniker The P1 Move.
The P1 Move will celebrate the release by starting a “last Sunday of the month” residency at Elbo Room, 2843 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago, on May 30th (Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend). Elbo Room was the original home of the historic Liquid Soul residency.
The night will feature DJ sets from the White Label Djs, DJ Madrid and DJ Sadie Woods, as well as visuals by Kilo, Inc and a performance of new P1 Move tracks plus old P-1 favorites featuring this array of guest vocalists.
